As a classical guitarist, Thomas has performed in masterclasses for renowned artists such as Matthew Slotkin, Valerie Hartzell, Martha Masters, Frederic Zigante, and Gohar Vardanyan. In 2014, Thomas received the Christopher Beg Award, which “is given annually to honor the undergraduate guitar student that best exhibits qualities of creativity, humility, perseverance, and improvement in their study of the guitar and music performance.” After completing his undergraduate studies in University of South Carolina, Thomas was awarded a teaching assistantship at the University of Missouri where he earned his Master’s degree. Thomas is affiliated with the music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and is currently a doctoral candidate under the direction of pedagogue Julian Gray at Shenandoah Conservatory. Beyond guitar, Thomas has a passionate interest in history through podcasts, book, and documentaries.
